For independent creatives
Shoot for your community.
RiseWorks runs a vetted directory of independent videographers, photographers, and editors. Mission-driven organizations browse it when they need someone in their city who can tell a story well.
Documentary filmmakers and small production companies are welcome too.
One directory
Independent shooters and small teams sit alongside every specialty. Camera, edit, color, sound, and motion carry the same weight here.
One profile
Your samples, your specialties, your city. Kept current by you, searchable by the organizations looking for it.
One standard
Every assignment gets the same craft, and every subject gets informed consent and dignity on camera.
Why join
What being listed gets you.
Paid assignments
This is paid work. Scope and terms are settled before a shoot day is booked.
Work worth putting your name on
Programs in the field and the people who run them. Documentary work that rewards patience and a good eye.
Clients with a mission
Nonprofits, foundations, and community organizations in your own metro use StoryOS to tell their stories. The directory is how they find the people to make them.
Pro bono, if you want it
You can opt in to pro bono assignments from your profile, and turn it off whenever you like. It stays your call.
The path in
How vetting works.
Apply
Tell us who you are, where you work, and what you make. The form is short and it costs nothing to join.
Build your profile
Add your work samples, your disciplines, your home base, and how far you travel. It takes about ten minutes. Your profile is what an organization reads before it reaches out, so give it real work.
Get reviewed
A person reads and watches every submission, usually within a few days. We look for craft, reliability, and care with the people in front of the lens.
Get listed
Approved profiles appear in the directory. Organizations browse by discipline, home base, and how far you travel, favorite the people they want on their next shoot, and reach out directly.
Straight talk
Where we are right now.
RiseWorks is early. You should know that before you apply.
- The platform is live and the first organizations are onboarding. We are building the directory ahead of the demand it will serve.
- We make no promise about how much work reaches you, or how often. Anyone who tells a freelancer otherwise at this stage is guessing.
- Gig volume grows metro by metro as we launch. Creators who join now are the first ones organizations see.
- Your profile stays yours. Edit your samples, your coverage, and your pro bono setting whenever you want.

Working solo is the norm here. The directory is built around independent shooters, and one person with a camera and a sound kit covers the kind of work these organizations need. Small production companies are welcome as well.
The directory is opening across 15 US metros: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC. Editors, colorists, audio engineers, and motion graphics artists who work remotely are welcome from anywhere.
